@@AmagrasMUSIC ssl consoles don't have so tight q or such big db boosts. And you rarely can even hit full boost in a musical manner, at most you can get a +15 broader with a GML or maselec. Either way, if you hit a +30db on such narrow q, you're doing something wrong: either the input sound is bad, you are not gain staging correctly or you don't know what you're doing (like wanting more punch, which must be achieved by controlling dynamics, and not static eq). Regardless if linear or natural phase, such db boost with such narrow q produces a guaranteed harsh resonance, with or without pre-ringing.

Your last sentence answers your first question. They are all the same but with different approaches. A VCA is going to be faster than opto but not as fast as a Fet that’s why they are the cleanest of them all. So yes they are and sound different.

I wouldn’t use more than an ssl channel strip nowadays, maybe boost between 200-300hz and using a ratio of 6:1, it’s nothing against distortion and harmonics it’s just a matter of taste. Hope this helps

@@AmagrasMUSIC sí, esa misma. La comparé con la ssl 2 (la del video) y son muy parecidas las curvas, incluso tienen ese "dip". Me quedé con la 9000j al final, aunque le saco el ruido y el "analog" que tienen por default para que sea lo más limpio posible. Igual tiene una opcióm de thd para agregar algo de saturación aunque es muy mínima

El thd creo que lo que hace es cambiar un poco las tolerancias de los componentes, lo pudieras dejar encendido y no te va a ensuciar el sonido.

I was using proq3 almost exclusively like you, but then I joined MWTM and watching Andy Wallace and CLA made me want to copy their system to a t so I said “This is the most advanced ssl channel I have so why not giving it a try” then I ended up getting used to it and I’m a fan of routines!

​@@AmagrasMUSIC I may return to a non-graphical interface. However, I end up using ProQ3 or Nova because of the dynamics sections that are useful in some applications.

That’s street bs, in practice you don’t need it. What guarantees that your snare is perfectly in phase with the rest of the drums? Mic positioning? That’s not absolute! Stop mixing with plugin doctor!

@@AmagrasMUSIC yo chill bro lol. i dont even know what this plugin is, so dont assume bs on people that don't agree with you or corrects what you say on the internet. post or pre ringing, is an actual artifact that you have to know and consider if you're an engineer, and you can HEAR IT. unless you're not an engineer. phase shifting exists and is case specific in terms of amount of rotation, period. so if you want to spread knowledge, spread it fully correctly.

You don’t need the linear phase in mixing, how hard is for people to under that? I guess it’s because the number of theorists clouds the number of people actually doing the thing. You are right I didn’t need to mention bs to say the same.

I see what you mean, I kinda agree the automatic double take sounds finicky in mono but I use this plugin to make stereo double takes and it rocks!

@@AmagrasMUSIC Can you show some record that you did with this plugin, and preferably the one that people liked? I heard here a decent setting, when you manipulated that modulation waveform at the bottom, the doubling effect was not bad.

After my above comment, I actually re-activated some of my old Waves plugins; your video reminded me that some of these old Waves plugins are as good or better than what's available today (and with zero CPU usage)...
